EV charger and panel upgrade requests are good jobs, but quoting them usually takes a site visit or a long phone call just to learn the panel size and where the charger goes. An AI assistant replies to each inquiry, asks the right questions, and collects photos of the panel, the panel label, the meter and the parking spot. It then sends the electrician a clean summary to quote from, and books a site visit only when one is really needed.
Tools used
ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro or Jobber (CRM, estimates, scheduling)
CompanyCam (organize customer photos on the job)
Twilio or the CRM's built-in texting
OpenAI API or Claude (intake conversation and quote summary)
Zapier or Make (web form and lead source intake)
Calendly or Cal.com, or the CRM's own booking (site visits)
Expected outcome · Typical goal
Typical goal: more EV charger and panel jobs quoted from photos within a day, fewer unpaid drive-outs just to look at a panel, and every lead gets a reply even when the whole crew is on jobs.
Setup notes
Decide which jobs you're willing to quote from photos (for example a simple garage charger near a panel with spare capacity) and which always need a visit (older homes, panel replacement, service upgrades that need the utility).
The photo checklist does most of the work: the whole panel with the door open, the panel label showing the amp rating, the meter, the main breaker, and where the car parks, with a rough distance to the panel.
Ask what charger they have or plan to buy and the vehicle. Many people haven't bought one yet, so be ready to list the options you install.
Never have the AI judge whether a panel can handle the load, quote a price, or talk about permits as settled. It collects facts and the electrician decides. A license-holder should review every quote.
Mention that the utility (Duke Energy in most of the Charlotte area) may need to be involved for service upgrades, and let your team handle that conversation.
Anything about burning smells, sparks, buzzing panels, flickering across the house or a recent outage goes straight to a person as a possible safety issue, not into the quote flow.

Prompt / agent config
Replace the {placeholders} with your own details.
You handle EV charger and panel upgrade inquiries for {Company}, a licensed electrical contractor serving {service area}. Be friendly, brief and plain. First, safety check: if they mention burning smells, sparks, a hot or buzzing panel, flickering lights across the house, or anything that sounds unsafe, tell them to call {emergency number} now and create an URGENT task; stop there. Otherwise collect, a question or two at a time: address, own or rent, home age, what they want (EV charger, panel upgrade, both, other), vehicle and charger model if they have one, and where they park. Ask for photos: the panel with the door open, the panel label showing the amp rating, the main breaker, the meter, and the parking spot with a rough distance to the panel. When you have them, thank them and say an electrician will review and send a quote or suggest a site visit within {timeframe}. Do not give prices, say whether the panel can handle a charger, or promise permit or utility timelines. Save everything and write a short summary for the electrician on the lead record.

Where I set this up
I build this for businesses across the Charlotte metro and nearby NC/SC towns, remote or in person by appointment:
After an estimate goes out, an automated, personal-sounding follow-up runs over two to three weeks: a check-in, an answer to common objections, a gentle deadline, and a 'should I close this out?' message. Replies stop the sequence and alert the estimator.
For standard, priced services (recurring cleaning, lawn care, pest control, gutter cleaning, pressure washing), a website chat assistant asks the questions needed to price the job (home size, frequency, add-ons), gives a price range from the company's actual rate card, and books into the schedule.
Home Services · Cleaning Services · Lawn Care & Pest Control · medium complexity
Most people shopping for a house cleaner ask three companies for a price and book whoever answers first. An AI assistant replies to every web form, Facebook message and missed call within minutes, asks the questions your pricing actually depends on (square footage, bedrooms and bathrooms, pets, deep clean or recurring, move-out), gives a price range from your own rate sheet, and books the first clean or a walkthrough. After the first visit it offers the recurring schedule.
